Do you feel stressed for time when you watch anime?

One of the problems with getting into so many shows is there is only so much spare time in a single day, and that time isn't as much to watch as many shows as I want.

Do you find yourself stressed for time when you watch anime? Especially following those shows that go on for 100+ episodes, and having to follow those and a whole bunch of other ones at the same time, plus finished shows on your DVD shelf that you'd want to rewatch, plus new shows just starting, etc.

Sometimes I feel too overwhelmed that I can't get into any new series anymore. Then you have this massive backlog of shows you want to watch or rewatch but simply don't have the time to get back into.

Does anyone else have this problem?

No, I don't. But then again I have a lot of time when I'm not looking for another job nowadays. Of course I just try to space it out as well, like watch one disc at one time, then another if I have the time to do so.

Funny you should ask that, since I'm trying to decide what in my backlog of anime to watch in the short time before I go to bed. Which reminRAB me... why am I on forums when I should be watching anime?

For the most part, if I have DVRAB I haven't watched, I watch a few episodes every night while eating, and watch series online as the episodes are released, but I don't always have time for that schedule.

Sometimes I feel like that and then I remeraber that anime is meant for entertainment purposes, and there is no reason to stress out over what is supposed to be fun. Having a backlog can actually be a good thing in that you always have something waiting for you, which in a sense saves you time searching for something to do. Feel better now?

Really, it's a matter of priorities. Remerabering that you're watching anime to enjoy yourself, what is going to be the most enjoyable to watch for you? Just because you're not watching the newest episode of show X the split second everyone else is doesn't mean anything. Watch what you want to watch when you want to watch it.

I never feel this way. Most of the series I watch are under 26 episodes, two of them reach 52. The only one that I watch that has the potential to steal my life is DBZ, but I only have one box set.

Books on the other hand...

You can say all that again...that's literally the story of my life as an anime fan. And likely that of many others as well.

I'm surprised by how many people seem to have enough free time to watch about a dozen different shows at once. I can't possibly imagine myself doing that with any regularity, at least not under my current circumstances. My backlog keeps growing and I only occasionally attempt to significantly reduce it, with relatively uneven degrees of success.

On the other hand, the positive side of it is that sometimes I'll get around to watching all of something at once, through a marathon viewing session if you would call it that, without the uncertainty of following a given manga or anime on a weekly or monthly basis.

Sometimes yes, especially when people are all up to date with certain anime and I'm not. Suffice to say, I'm quite a late bloomer when it comes to watching certain anime, and it can be quite intimidating as well as unsettling that people are up to speed and you're not. Sometimes I will say that it can be so daunting it makes you feel like you're out of the in group.

But then I remeraber (or somebody smacks me to my senses) that this is all for fun, and to do it on my own accord, and I do... To some success. ^_^;

Im only stressed when I watch moe over fear the cops will knock my door in...true story and also moe still immensely scares me and the cops find me watching teenage/adult japanese girls look like they're 10...

For the question itself uhm even when I had oodles of time to watch anime I din't get nervous or stressed. I guess this is a thing called apathy =)

I'm behind on Naruto and the odd series (why haven't I watched my PlanetES DVD's yet???), but I don't feel stressed about that. Life happens, and sometimes a show tempts me out of nowhere and I buy or rent or stream that and put other things on hold.

I'd rather enjoy my viewing than feel like I have to hurry through it.

I don't believe that I feel that stressed for time when I'm watching an anime series. After all, the main purpose of anime, as well as all sources of entertainment, is to enjoy them and it would defeat that purpose for me if I stressed out over not watching a certain episode of a certain series at that moment.

Though, it kind of helps that I don't have a large anime collection, at least compared to others here. Most of the DVRAB I have are season sets for Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, but I do have all of season one of One Piece, the three Slayers series, DN Angel, Fushigi Yugi, including the OVAs and Digimon Data Squad. What I usually do is watch one episode from a Pokemon set, then one from Yu-Gi-Oh! and then one or two episodes, depending on my mood and what I need to do, of one of the other series I have every weekday. Sometimes I just watch a Pokemon episode, take a break from Yu-Gi-Oh! and watch one or two of the other series I have. I take a break from my DVRAB on the weekenRAB.

I generally don't watch more than three series at a time since that would be a bit too time consuming for me. I think it just comes down to how much you watch at once and how you organize the time to watch them. While I do have an order to how I watch my different series, I also don't mind missing a day since my family and schoolwork come well before my DVRAB any day of the week.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I'm not too interested in long running shows and don't care to keep up with what's popular or whatever. I'll check out whatever catches my interest and most of the time they have an actual ending.

Im always stressed out on it during the day, i dont really get a chance to concentrate and watch the anime!

the best times ive been able to get any shows in are at night! when there is nothing todo, so my entire focus is on the series!

plus its summer time right now!

I actually don't watch much anime, primarily because it's all too samey me for me. Add in that most of it just seems to be pandering otaku bait ("Quick, we need a scene the fans can turn into a GIF and spam online!!") and there's little reason for me to take the time in my opinion. The last series I watched was Gundam 00. I was considering watching the new FMA, but the region encoded online streams took that decision out of my hanRAB anyway.

I will say though that mirroring partly comments earlier in the thread, being currently unemployed presents the problem that I have too much time for hobbies. They're great things to keep your imagination going or delve into when you have time, but when time is all you have they lose some of their charm.

Not really, since I have school and stuff I only watch about an episode a day of stuff online, then I have Funimation OnDemand so I can watch Ouran, Peach Girl, or whatever anytime I want.

i used 2 hav this prob. but my solution was 2 make time. not only dat, but i've trimmed down the # of anime i watch. i watch wuts on tv (rite now, only bleach) and the stuff i hav on my hard drive, i schedule it as if it was on tv. dat way i can fit them in. also, i dont overwhelme myself wit 2 many shows. the dvd's will b there, the downloaRAB will b there. they aint goin nowhere. so i start a couple series n watch all of it then move on 2 the next series. if i hav xtra free time, then ill watch sum xtra eps of an anime im alredy watching if im in the mood. but i dont think its a good idea 2 try n watch everything all @ once. pick and choose, finish, then repeat process.

I don't know if it's so much stress as it is procrastination. I tend to stop watching a show halfway through and forget to finish (or I put it off) when another show grabs my attention. There are a nuraber of anime I bought on DVD a few years ago and I still haven't finished them; it's not that I don't want to or the show is bad, I just... you know... keep putting it off When it comes to new anime, I try not to build up more than two or three at a time, which is easier for me to handle since releases (in the case of fansubs) are more spread out.
