Do you consider cheerleading a sport?

I am not necessarily commenting on the difficulty, or physical exertion, or athleticism, or training required for my definition of "sport", although you are free to do so in your answer.

Along your same criteria of "sport", do you consider gymnastics a sport? How about dancing? Figure skating? Diving? Surfing?

The definition of a sport is an activity causing physical exertion. So yes, it is a sport.

It's performance and no-one is gonna win when cheerleading but they are there for moral support of their affiliate team.

It is definitely sexist because the performers are expected to be female and the sports people are expected to be male and the *role* of the women is support.

I couldn't do it without getting winded, so yes. And yes to all your other sports (unless diving means scuba diving, in which case that'd be the exception).

I would call it a sport now adays. Not when I was doing it it wasn't but it has gravitated into a gymnastics style sport. and it does take talent to do alot of things those girls/guys do.
