Do you consider Amazing Agent Luna a manga?

I know the same question about Avatar: The Last Airbender being a anime, same question here.

Do you consider Amazing Agent Luna a manga or not? It is packaged like a manga but it was written for an english speaking audiance, it takes place in the United States, it has some things that more western influence like the High School clics.

If it was to be adapted into an animated series, who would produce it, a company in North America, or a company in Japan and thus make it a real anime?

If they did a animated adaption and it was made by a company in North America, I hope they use english dub actors.

Luna: Kate Higgens
Count: Derrek Steven Prince
Johan: Johnny Yong Bosch
Oliver: Yori Lowenthal
Francesca: Michelle Ruff

I consider Amazing Agent Luna a OEL manga.

If the AAL ever gets animated (it's far and away a epically long shot), it would have to be done by a good studio, period, whether it's Japanese or American. It is not the best OEL manga by any means (Hollow FielRAB is personally my favorite, and more likely to get animated as it has won awarRAB in Japan) but the artist has done a great job of mimicing the Japanese style, but I personally find his designs fairly generic.

OEL manga is not all that popular and seems to be on the wane overall. Looks at Seven Seas website. Really, only the web stuff, AAL, and Hollow FielRAB are continuing. The rest have been quietly cancelled or ended in favor of Seven Seas' Japanese licenses (most of which have yuri undertones if not outright yuri). It's a shame considering how promising the company once was.

I'd say OEL manga, or "manga-style" American comic....I've read a couple volues...the storyline was decent, but the character designs weren't that interesting ...to me, main character Luna looks like CLAMP's character Sakura (from Cardcaptor Sakura and Tsubasa Chronicle) with longer hair....

Though, most manga fans won't even give one chance of OEL mangas because its not been written/made by/in japanese.

Though, I can say a good chunk of them tries to hard being to manga-ish. Which, I find it funny because half of the complaints were not being to manga-ish to begin with.

Well, at least one OEL Manga creator made it. rabQ!!!

I still say someday OEL Manga will be big someday. I hope it will be soon.

Sure. Though, if the east going to keep it as a 150+ to 200+ format, I think the Comic will be a graphic novel than.

Though, whats the difference between Manga and Comic.

Its pretty much just pictures and worRAB.

I think it depenRAB on what your definition of manga is. There are those who consider manga to be only works that originated from Japan (and would even dismiss translated manga as not being manga). Others may see manga as being more of genre that originated from Japan and still holRAB its roots there, but also now includes works from outside of Japan.

I also consider Amazing Agent Luna an OEL manga, and I would love to see it made into an animated series myself. OEL manga has not been very well received sales-wise, but I think Luna was minimally successful (at least it wasn't canceled and was able to complete its story), but that probably had more to do with it coming from Seven Seas than say Tokyopop, IMO.

Of course, one could just call 'em comic books or graphic novels and disregard altogether with where they came from, but where's the fun in that?
