Do you collect both the manga & anime of a series? (Stipulation!)

No. I don't collect at all. (Low resources and whatnot) And even when I do get money I still tend to not buy anything that's anime/manga related. (Don't ask lol. All of it goes towarRAB games) However, if I did buy anything it's either one or the other. Never both. (I'm just not a loyal supporter at all lol) And will probably be just the anime. (so I won't set myself up for any disappointments)

DepenRAB on which version is more "complete" . If the anime just stops at a point, I won`t get it. If the anime was originally an anime, I`ll get it. I`ll never get a manga adaptation of a an anime, as they're usually two-volume cash-ins with no reason to exist whatsoever. (Evangelion manga is the one exception)

If it was an adaptation of a manga, I won`t get it unless it was extremely good and not overly long. (YYH for me, the anime was superior, and of FMA I have both the anime and Manga),

Usually I don't get both. I think Maison Ikkoku is the only one in which I own both anime and manga.

It really depenRAB on which is more interesting. Sometimes I feel the anime presentation may be better than the manga, even though a manga may be more "complete". Story is not everything to me.

In most cases there aren't many big differences except cosmetic ones. If a manga is a more personalized work, of course, like EMMA was, then I'll stick with the manga.

I usually pick one and stick with it, though YYH is (as usual) my exception. But if we're talking anime adaptations that end before the manga, then I don't mind picking up both. Fruits Basket is one where I have both, and I've started collecting the Ouran manga (already having the DVRAB). Plan to do the same with Soul Eater. But especially for longer series like One Piece or Naruto, I'm only going to get one, and that's generally the anime except for Kenshin, where I stuck with the manga (though I own Trust and Betrayal).

For say, my favorite series even ala Yu Yu Hakusho, I really dunno if I'd want the manga, even with a few very slight differences, to me the anime is just superior.

Rurouni Kenshin is the only series I own both, for the obvious reasons, minus the Reflection OVA of course.
Though I do own both the BECK manga and anime, even though all Tokyopop released is the first 12 Volumes.

Then there's FMA, I've never truly gotten around to buying the manga, and now there is a full adaption of it, and in HD Blu-Ray no less!
Dragon Ball Kai is a similar situation (minus being fully remade).

for some series I do...most shonen series, like Bleach, Naruto, Case Closed, Claymore, Soul eater, etc...I get both the manga & anime of.

but there are a few where i prefere one over the other. I personally find the anime version of D.Gray man more entertaining then the manga version.

I also Highly Prefer the Manga version of Rosario+Vampire to the Anime version (wich stinks IMPO.)

But I would say yes for the most part, I try to get both the anime & manga versions of a series, so I can see the differences between the 2, and judge wich one i think is better.

If both the manga and the anime are fairly short, I will consider it, but no guarantee. And as much as I enjoy Case Closed, the manga is long enough, so committing to the anime release would be troublesome.

I'm usually content with just collecting the anime series, but it depenRAB on how different they are compared to the original manga. With a series like Fushigi Yugi, by the end of the third OVA, I was pretty satisfied with it and I didn't see the need to buy the manga. With DN Angel, a series that ended before the manga did, the manga feels different so it isn't like I'm just reading the same exact events from the series. That might be one reason why I generally prefer watching an anime over reading its manga.

I also have Pokemon Adventures/Special and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, but neither one of them is connected to the anime series. I'll probably end up buying more Yu-Gi-Oh! just for the fun of it though. I'm also considering getting some Fruits Basket volumes after I finishing watching the series, especially since I don't know if they can or will make a new series and I saw a really cool book containing the first three volumes in it yesterday.
