Do you believe it's okay for some hispanic women to dress revealingly if it's...

...part of thier culture? I recently read the short story, "The Myth of the Latin Woman: I Just Met a Girl Named Maria," and it brought up a lot of controversy with my peers. Some thought that hispanic women should not change the way they dress and keep to their culture, while others believed that they should dress more appropriate to the American dress so they don't get humiliated or insulted by men making certain remarks or gestures. I understand both sides, as while people should respect their culture, if it clashes in the way that it does here, where men interpret this form of dress as an invitation to make remarks, a change should be made. What do you think?

It depends on what you're dressing for. What reason is there for you to wear clothes that reveal your body for the world to see...unless you are TRYING to attract men.

There are clothes that look great for both men and women of all cultures, ethnic groups and races that look fashionable, elegant, tasteful, etc. that people can wear without showing their underwear (Britney Spears / Paris Hilton) or their bras.

I'm not saying that the men should ogle them for that reason, but why give them a REASON to stare. People should be able to tell the prostitutes from the women and the prostitutes from the men.

Latinas are not sl**s so you are making it sound like they are, you're talking as if women from other cultures don't reveal themselves, and I am proud that we Latinos y Latinas are able to hang on to our culture even in this melting pot called the United States of America.
