Do you believe in UFOs?

its funny how theres always an assumption that the aliens will have immensely superior intelligence and technology to ours, and would invade our planet with weaponry that relies on principles we havent even thought of. any alien civilization on another planet very likely wouldnt be much more or less evolved than humans, and are probably struggling with their own problems of disease, strife, social issues and religion to worry about using enormous amounts of their resources to mount an expedition around the galaxy looking for other life inhabiting planets some 1000 light years away

think about the odRAB of that happening, even if there was a planet every 1000 light years apart in every direction with inhabitants as evolved as humans give or take 10,000 years. so thered be inhabitants 10k years more advancesd than us, and planets 10k years behind our level, most on an average of our level. could humans in 10k years be advanced in physics, wealth and unity enough to make a successful 1000 light-year trip to another civilization? and how lng would that trip take?

Any aliens that visited us would HAVE to be vastly technologically superior, that much is certain. They'd either have to have faster than light (ftl) technology, have figured out how to put people in stasis, or made a self supporting ecosystem on board a space ship in order to get here. Their intelligence may not be different from our own, but imagine the things that could be achieved in 10000 years. In the last 200 we've seen earth changed drastically. We've gone from no electricity and using sails for power to having practically everything running on electricity. From discovering powered flight to mastering atmospheric flight and beginning to explore space. From not even knowing how disease was caused, to eradicating many and fighting many more. From not knowing what an atom was, to using the power of the atom for both destruction and power. If we haven't killed ourselves off in 10000 years, then we will be the UFO's in some other primitive culture's skies.

What about the possibility that the aliens travel from their planet to Earth the way we might travel from New York to England? That would mean that the people running the ship would need to be inteligent but the passenger aliens on board wouldn't need to squat except for every day type of things.

To them then, they are really "IFO's", arent they? It often Puzzles me why this is so, people jump to the least likely of conclusions to explain it. I think people realy want to see alien spacecraft.

Less of course they just transferred intelligences into a giant computer type space craft and sent that off as well, can accelerate to near c pretty quickly with a much smaller thing and no problems with interstellar travel being dangerous to living things.

Dictionary.com:

UFO - "flying object whose nature is unknown; especially those considered to have extraterrestrial origins"

Yes I know, technically it has to be unidentified to be a UFO and it could be ANY object. But mainly when people talk about UFO's they are talking about alien spaceships and I would think most people assume it is the disk shape most people think about. I think you're just trying to be too technical :)
