They have to make an entire scene to come up with one joke on the show. they used to effortlessly come up with subtle humor. it has changed a lot, it has no spark whatsoever anymore.
Family Guy has gotten to be the same way. On FG, they're almost telling the same joke over and over again half of the time these days.
It happens to still be more popular than your average TV show so unfortunately it won't go off the air soon. But I'll probably laugh when the Simpsons is completely over with.
