Do we really need more laws and taxes that pertain to the environment?

I got to thinking...we do have an awful lot of laws that pertain to the environment. I personally feel that our country is pretty clean, short of some areas, but at a glance, it is pretty clean and there are harsh laws and regulations in regards to littering and pollution. Does the ball need to roll any further?
