Do we need open honest political debate about polices or name calling?

often these labels are unjustifed but we never get to find that out because we never get to hear a mature sensible debate
Some examples of the labels that can exclude you from political debate.Extremist,Radical,Nazi,anti-semetic,Terroist,islamiphobic,conspiracy theorist and there are many more.I dont think calling your political rivals unsavoury names with out proper disscusion or debate is a complete cop out and sujests they havent got a argument

Intelligent analysis of complex issues is far beyond the abilities of most people. They are persuaded by extremists that those they dislike are something to hate and fear, and given labels to use to represent that hate and fear. Name calling is all they have. It means "I'm scared - and I think it's your fault." I'd suggest ignoring it, as for the most part these people have zero infleunce on policy. But every now and then one of them gets a radio show - or a gun.
 
Perhaps we do, from time to time; however, the verbal swordplay with demagogues and zealots is rather innervating. You do realize, do you not, that the war which was declared on Democrats by Newt Gingrich originated in a right-wing think tank founded by Paul Weyrich (founder of the so-called "Moral Majority"), the Heritage Foundation? They begin tripping over their tongues, these would-be domestic terrorists or theocrats, because they tend to salivate and pant heavily at the thought of inflicting fatal wounds upon more than half of the American citizenry for simply disagreeing.
 
It would be shocking to see some intelligent debate on this forum ,but doubt it will happen. the perceived demographics seem to show a pissed off uninformed group who form their collective opinions by listening to the news puppets of both cloths and doing nothing to evaluate what is really happening. Of course, ignorance is bliss . I realize we all have opinions and this is a good forum to share not rant or vilify anyone with an opposite view. There is no cause for the venomous rhetoric spewed here.
