Do we both claim the homebuyer's credit on our new home?

My fiance and I just purchased our first home. Since we're not yet married we are not filing a joint tax return.

We each make about $60K / year.

What determines the return you receive on the $8000 homebuyer's tax credit?

Should we both file for this in order to get the full $8K?

who is titled on the house? if both and you are still not married by end of Dec then you will each get 1/2
