That's what I just don't understand. Why do these places still get public funding?
I realize, I would have been a lot better off had I been stupid and gone to community college after graduation and gotten a trade. Most university majors are garbage. I knew alumni that were impoverished in high school, alumni who didn't get jobs while in college, and became one of those impoverished alumni after graduation. I also know people who got university degrees who really aren't doing much of anything into their thirties.
I'm still in my mid-twenties. I've considered going to law school, getting a masters, but I've realized university is mostly garbage unless you become a doctor, do engineering, nursing or accounting, and those are largely glorified vocational fields. All that other stuff is filler so the university staff can overpay themselves, support their obsolete liberal arts departments and their "research" and build grand, expensive buildings.
I've got a few things lined up, but it finally required me to abandon the popular thinking that permeates our culture today, that college is good. No it's not, making money is smart, and that requires doing things other people aren't willing to do. I wish I hadn't been such a lemming. I try to tell younger kids, but they don't listen, and it's useless. It's a shame.
I don't know why government continues to give these universities funding. It's ridiculous.
