Well I personally think it is. I mean some of the new{Or should I say all new episodes} have clearly lost it. There not funny anymore... And I personally like the old episodes. So what do u think? Think they should end it now? I personally thought it was going to end once the movie kicked in.

They should do one last GREAT episode to end on a high note, then start focusing on doing a new Simpsons movie every few years.

I still watch the show and I still think it's funny, just not as funny as it used to be. I don't know if they should end it, but I do know that I'll watch it until they do.

If Simpsons were the only game in town, maybe the writers would work harder to make the show great. 10 years ago, the only show the Simpsons had to worry about overshadowing them was King of the Hill, and two little shows coming up called 'Futurama' and 'Family Guy'.

The Simpsons is no longer 'edgy' or 'pushing the boundaries' like it was when it first premiered, because as time went on, bigger and badder shows came along, taking what the Simpsons had done and amped it up to where now Family Guy, American Dad, and the Adult Swim shows are now 'edgy' and 'pushing the boundaries' (althought not neccesarily in a good way in a lot of instances)

400 plus episodes and a feature film is one hell of a good run. It's time to let the Simpsons rest and be comforted in the fact this was the show that brought popularity back to prime time cartoons, something that hadn't happened since The Flinstones left the air 2 and 1/2 decades previous.

Twenty Seasons and then some is quite a run for anything these days, especially animated programming. While the newer seasons are okay, I still enjoy the earlier seasons, like Seasons one through seven; anything past that starts declining because like everything else, the idea well starts running dry, and I've seen the Simpsons since their beginning in December of '89. I've noticed that South Park isn't too far behind with its Run (I believe Season thirteen airs this Fall), and it's been around for twelve or thirteen years already, but I can already tell you that the Simpsons won't last forever, and I can't imagine seeing it run past season thirty or forty for that matter.

Hell yeah, Simpsons should have ended with season 11, it's been one crapfest after another since the beginning of season 12, though looking at it objectively I have been able to see at least one diamond in the rough from a few of the seasons, otherwise though it's really the show's time to go.

Not that Fox sees it that way, though. They're just having too much fun denying it.

The smart thing to do would have been to have the movie be the series finale. The fact that the series continued after the movie seemed like sort of a cop out to me.

But yeah, I haven't watched The Simpsons in years, but I have to agree that it should have ended about 8 years ago.

When should it have ended? IMO there are various good points at which the show could have ended well. The end of the first season, for one instance. This would have preserved it in mint condition rather than letting it age and get mouldy. Season Ten, Nine, Eleven, just before the Scully 'Homer is a idiot' seasons came in, also. Or before Jeans era if you want to include Scully's era (which compared with Jeans imo is good). However i wouldn't end it if i was Fox Broadcasting, even putting money reasons aside.

Law and Order will go on because Real life keeps providing the writers with lots of interesting stories...however the simpsons have long overstayed their welcome...but they will stay anyway, because Fox axes ANY show that threathens their popularity...seriously why do you think they cancel high-ranking shows?

Eh, I don't know about that. If anything, no competition would cause them to get lazier, as they wouldn't have to worry about another show taking their spotlight.

^This. I seriously bailed out when Maude Flanders died, and I've never even seen any episodes, old or new, since. Part of this is because I've moved on to better shows since that time.
