because i broke one in science (oops lol) and i just threw the liquid, it was in a beaker, down the sink. was that bad? is my entire class gonna get mercury poisoning? by the way the liquid was red.
haha ok.

i did tell my teacher.

so its all good with that
umm the red liquid is mercury in thermometers

yes it is silver but they die it so you can read it better.

duh.

my aunt just told me that.

thanks for all your answers though :)

If it was a mercury thermometer it would be a silvery liquid, otherwise I think they are mostly alcohol, mainly for safety.
As far as getting mercury poison, unless you ingest it or get it in a cut, there isn't enough to get everyone sick.

ONLY THE SILVER LIQUID IS MERCURY.

WHY DO YOU TAKE SCIENCE IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT MERCURY LOOKS LIKE?

yes usually the red liquid in EVERY thermometer is RED!:) I am clumsy to btw, naw you be fine, it's down the sink. I DO SUGGEST YOU INFORM YOUR TEACHER OF THIS:>(. yOU ARE BREAKING THE LAB SAFETY RULES HUN LMAO. Yeah don't sweat it, just make sure to inform you and your lab group to stay put and wash their hands throughly.
