Okay, so I'm new at this bridesmates thing... we were paired with the groomsmen. At the reception... do the paired couple dance together? So, the one who escort me in the ceremony... is he going to be the one dancing with me? Stupid question, but I want to make sure.

You need to ask the bride. Some brides and grooms choose to have that dance and others choose not to. I've been in a few weddings and I've never had to dance with a groomsmen, but at the same time I know some girls who have had to dance with the groomsmen. You just need to ask the bride and groom what their plans are :)

If the groomsmen have any manners, they'll dance with their bridesmates, they'll dance with their wives, and they'll dance with all the older ladies whose husbands wont get on the floor. Groomsmen should play the role of "stags" and dance with all the women.

it depends on the bride -- we didn't have a bridal party dance.... but your bride might want it......

We just wanted to get through all of the formalities and let everyone have fun and start the reception!

Unless the bride and groom decide to have a "bridal party" dance (where everyone dances with their escort in the bridal party), then no you are free to dance with whom ever you choose. The person who walks you down the aisle is in no way your "date" for the evening and you have no obligation to them.
