do the caps on spray paint reflect the actual hues?

given ideal conditions and surface prep, shaking, etc, do the color on the caps of rustoleum, krylon, belton, and montana accurately reflect the finished tones of the paint? the cap matches what i need perfectly, but im afraid to try it out. i dont have any similar surfaces prepped to test spray
