Do teenagers like animated shows nowadays?

Hey, me too! Although instead of actually discussing the episode it's more like we just yell out our favorite lines from the new episode when we see eachother in the hallways.:D

As for me I'm 21 and I don't remember much about the other kids in high school, because I mostly just kept to myself. I always saw a lot of kids wearing anime t shirts though.
 
I was a teen from late 1999 to late 2006, and i still got up to watch some of the morning cartoons pretty much throughout that entire era. But i dont think my schoolmates talked a lot about cartoons other than adult shows like The Simpsons and sometimes nostalgic childhood shows like the original TMNT, so im not sure whether many of them watched current day kids cartoons like i did.
 
Yeah, it pretty much is a needle in a haystack (I'm 21, but some people at my job are in high school), though when it comes to animated movies like Shrek and Toy Story they're more common. SpongeBob fans aren't that scarce either, but that's about it for TV children's animation (though sitcoms like Hannah Montana and iCarly are a little more common).
 
I thought I could stop watching cartoons when I was a teenager, but that idea failed miserably. After I turned 21 and got a DVD player a couple of years later, I found myself snagging DVD sets of the cartoons I enjoyed even when I was younger. Anyway I find that the cartoons I'm watching these days are reincarnations of the cartoons I watched from my youth. G.I. Joe: Renegades would be one of those examples.
 
Me and my friends at school love cartoons, and I have seen other people who talk about cartoons as well. Some people say they will stop when they are a little older, but I think that's bunk. If they think they are so grown up, then why don't they stop watching now? They act like they are little kids that are just addicted to any cartoon that's on at the moment. I could never stop watching cartoons, or animated stuff in general. They were a big part of my childhood and they still always find some way to entertain me.
 
I only thought I could stop watching cartoons because of how my cousin once said she doesn't watch cartoons. I was 15 and she was 14. I had some relatives over, and another one of my cousins was looking through the channels for something to watch, and she found what happened to be a cartoon that she'd watch. The first cousin I mentioned just harshly stated "I DON'T watch cartoons". Mind you, she started acting all adult-like when she was about 10.

The following summer, we happened to work at the same job. The Mortal Kombat movie had just come out, I saw it, and so did a couple of these guys there. We were discussing it for a bit, and she just says that's kids stuff.

Even around that time, I'd still watch cartoons, but the non-kid-oriented ones like The Simpsons, Beavis and Butt-head, and South Park. Though eventually, I went back to watching other kinds of cartoons. I started watching Digimon near the end of my final year of college. After that, I'd move on to X-Men Evolution, TMNT 2K3, Transformers Animated, The Spectacular Spider-Man, Wolverine and the X-Men, and now I'm watching Transformers Prime and G.I. Joe: Renegades. Someone should have told my cousin that trying too hard to act grown-up is a sign of immaturity.

If someone doesn't like to watch cartoons, or doesn't share my others interests, it's cool with me. What's NOT cool with me is if they'd dis me and/or turn their nose up at me for liking what I like.
 
I wish I went to your schools. I'm a sophomore in high school, and I've never heard the least bit of animation discussion at mine. Though one time I walked in on an unpopular kid watching an old episode of KND on a classroom TV, and he felt like he had to justify it by saying it was only for nostalgic reasons. I just told him it was fine with me.
 
I think it depends on the type of cartoon or anime it is. Most teenagers will admit to watching Simpsons, American Dad, Futurama, Cleveland Show, South Park, or some of the other shows on [adult swim]. However most of them won't watch shows like Bakugan or PokeMon unless they were huge fans. A good complex storyline like what is in Avengers or like Avatar has had in the past also helps to attract teenagers interest. I would say it is probably in the 70-80% range of yes, at least for the FOX animated shows and South Park.

For me when I was a teen yes, I watched Batman, Spider-Man, and X-Men (among others). Ironically, I've never been a huge fan of FOX's animated shows with the exception of Futurama, though I haven't watched Futurama since it moved to Comedy Central.
 
Those are the kinds of cartoons that I favored as a teenager, and even now as an adult currently in his early 30s.

I think Digimon would fall into that category too, though others may disagree because it looks childish enough.
 
If you count anime then i would say yes. I graduated high school a year ago but we had a sizable anime club there and would watch a variety of anime in it. The only time I heard American animation discussed was random kids talking about the latest Family Guy or South Park episode the day after. I'm in college now and it's more or less the same, I sometimes see people watching Naruto, Bleach, and even FLCL on their laptops in class or in the library. Also in our anime club which is modeled after the SOS Brigade lol. Just my experiences. Though we did watch Oban Star Racers and Iron Man Armored Adventures one time in it (it's how I found out about those series) but those are French shows
 
I'm 14, and animation is pretty much all I watch. Other kids don't watch many 'kids shows', but they all like Family Guy, Simpsons, Robot Chicken, etc. I recently got my friend, who had the attitude of 'CARTOON NETWORK SUX NOWADAYS' into Regular Show.
 
I Agree I'm in my 20's now and still watch cartoons especially the Fox shows which I think you should give them a chance.

Whereas shows like Pokemon I still catch the occasional catch up because I was such an avid fan as a youngster.
