do speed cameras flash once?(Washington DC)?

I hate that I know the answer to this.

The fine is $50 and has no points. They send you two pictures of your car. One is of the back showing the license plate and one showing the side of your car. So I'd imagine there's a minimum of 2 flashes. The ticket comes in the mail a month after the fact.
 
I was coming out of 50W into dc, right after i got past that washington post sign, on new york ave. as i was crossing an intersection, i saw a flash, i was going about 45 mph. How much is the fine and did i get caught? - everytime i pass this intersection i see a flash somewhere, sometimes when no one is even passing...
