Obviously songwriters who can sing have the luxury of knowing which chords to play but for songwriters who can't sing, do they compose songs(not the lyrics but the melody) on the piano first?
I'm asking because lately I've been wanting to expand on some melodies in my head and since I can't sing, it seems the only way I'll be able to bring them to life is by trial and error until they sound the same way I hear them in my head.
