Do some members prefer not to ask a question but to engage in a debate?

I've noticed several members who will enter into a back and forth with folks responding to their question; not so much to clarify as to challenge. You may differ on this point but it appears to me to be rather large ego's at work. Do you prefer to engage or just respond to the question and move on?
George, that answers' a lot of my question.
Thank you.
BTW - I only give a thumbs up so if you got one down it did not come from me. Thanks for your time and effort.

It sure seems to be the case and I have been guilty as well but have also only asked 18 questions.

I have to admit that when challenged I respond and you will see that I also leave notes to other responders but my notes are to correct inaccuracies.

There are times that I just feel that it is not worth all of the effort, I have found that no matter what you say in your response the person that asked the question will never change his mind.

I wouldn't say I have a big ego, I am just a retired guy that enjoys messing with peoples minds.

I am very nice and very tolerant.

But sometimes, Welfare Democrats get me almost riled.

I pay taxes to feed Democrats, and they bite my hand.

This is what yahoo gave to replace yahoo news discussion which was an all out free for all of free speech

They don't want a exchange because that became so wild they were forced by a law suit to shut it down

People were literally picking fights with places and times and using every foul word on earth

That is the origen of this

I have members claim that members had multiple accounts thus asking question, and getting the chance to answer them hence boosting there own status for whatever reason.

It does seen to me that some members know their "opponents" due to "blogging" or whatever via the internet at other sites. There is a website called Extreme Debates that allows internet users to follow many threads of conversations all over the web. I was asked to join one in order to access a website that "blogged", all the benefits of joinging were on that website, but I just worried about them selling by personal info. I hope that helps.
