Do RevTech Transmissions Whine While Operating?

I got my hands on a Rev Tech 6-speed for the bike I'm building, but I'm not sure how well it operates. I know of no one who has owned any of their products, so not sure of their reliability. I have the options of giving it back, but if the gears don't whine like a Baker and such...I'll keep it. Anybody know?

I really haven't heard anything about them whining.Maybe do some research and see if they have back cut gears. If so they shouldn't whine i would think.Revtech's seem to be a hit or miss item.I know a few people that had them and had many problems with them.If you read the Harley forums you'll see posts that go both ways.I know i wouldn't touch one of their made in Korea motors with a 10 foot pole.Personally i wouldn't buy one(especially if your building a high horsepower motor). For a 6 speed you can't beat a Baker.More money for sure but you get what you pay for.

Like the Japanese before them, the Koreans copy something made in the US and sometimes even improve on it.

If any of the gears whine it is likely because manufacturers mix straight cut and helical cut gears in transmissions, and the helical cuts whine while the straight ones tend to clank a bit. And they mix them up in the trans, so maybe only third will whine a bit. Only engineers know why.
