i had an interview last friday.. still didn't get a call back but the manager said it'd be within 2 weeks if i was hired. people have been saying i could have been interviewed for a future position because 2 weeks is a bad sign. would a restaurant do that? what's the point - like why would they waste either of our times for a position that is not available? or is 2 weeks a legitimate amount of time to wait?

Two weeks is definately a ligitamite amount of time. Especially if someone just handed in there two weeks notice. Sometimes people quit there job but give 2 months notice, in which case they can take there time hiring you. Companies do sometimes interview for future positions, but they tell you that that is the case. They also sometimes keep your resume on file if you do really well but they hire someone else, then next time they need someone they have you to fall back on. I wouldn't worry about it, chances are they are actually hiring. Most of the jobs I've gotten took about a month from the time of the interview to the offer. More if you count the time from applying to the time of the interview. Some goverment places take like 3 months to make a decision, so this isn't unheard of :)

Good luck again!
