Yes, I think eventually that will be the case. I have this theory, most of the time I question is it God or science? Here is what I think, if there is a God, he would make science to confuse us somehow, you know he can't make it that easy for us to believe right? Here is the other side, God is science. Lastly, science explains everything, we live and we die, that is it, no God....
Does evolution exist or is God just trying to confuse us by throwing us some similarities of creatures? Is it both or neither? I am not sure if we will ever be able to answer your question unless we prove the differences of how people evolved up until today.

In part, yes.
Adaptation is part of genetic evolution. But it is not the only determining factor in evolution.
So while melanin-content in skin (responsible for skin color) may have something to do with geographical parameters. the other theory of "survival of the fittest" is not to be discounted.
This means that while the aborigines may be better equipped to handle the solar exposure on the earth's latitudes/longitudes in Australia, the white man may be more prone to skin-cancer due to lack of adequate melanin.
So purely from a Nature-related point of view, the only ones that do survive over many many years, may have a darker skin, perhaps.
But with technological development, man has begun challenging nature and the definition of "fittest" and the criterion to be a survivor has been changing too !!!
So, there is no definite way of knowing whether the genes will mutate or be dominated or remain as they are or evolve in a different direction.
Why did the Africans living near snow-covered mountains of Kilimanjaro or Mount Kenya remain black and not turn into lighter-skinned people like those from Caucasian Mountains? Ditto with Mongoloids, or other races ?
Because their DNA contained a specific set of instructions that can not be modified by external environment.
edit: If global warming and climate change continue, perhaps all of human race will experience unexpected changes in physicalities - skin color included.

not really lol the Original thing your talking about is where the people with lighter skin perished in the heat while darker people where much more healthier so only the healthy people lived and reproduced while the weaker people died out without have any children but because of how for medical advances have come this means everyone lives much longer and chooses there partner on looks instead of how healthy they look. so it was filtered out byno onee wanting to sleep with the weaklings but nowadays we all sleep with each otherr because of our sexy ass skin etc not alpha male status.

NO I THINK IT'S ALL IN THE GENES..THEY SAY AFRICANS ARE SO DARK BECAUSE IT'S SO HOT..well take two africans to antarctica, and years and years from then their babies will still be black as long as they mate withing blacks! How do you explain blue eyes, blonde hair, big booties and lips, nappy and straight hair or slanted eyes..IT'S THE WAY GOD CREATED US!
