I've been off the medication for over a year. I'm not having any symptoms now but I really need to take a NSAID pill for my back pain and wanted to get back on the meRAB for a few days before taking a pill, then get off of it again and stop taking the pain medication.

I'm desperate for some pain relief but I don't want to irritate my stomach again. Will this work?

It will probably work. Have you tried taking your pain medication with a good meal? If you don't suffer from heartburn you may not need the PPI. But it sounRAB like you have experienced the problem before. I know some people experience stomach bleeding with NSAID's and need to take acid suppressing medication to avoid stomach irritation.

Rosebloom, thanks for posting. In the past I thought it would work to take the pain medication once in a while without getting started on the PPI and then I got heartburn and had to use the PPI medication for a month to get back to normal.

I need some pain relief but I don't want my stomach get dependent on the PPI medication again, and I know I can't take the pain medication on a regular basis even with the PPI or I will have stomach problems. I'll give this a try.

you can try some other medicine like Gaiscon to protect your stomach instead of a PPI
