Do plain "Nintendo ds" games work with "Nintendo ds Lite"?

Need to know, coz I'm getting my son a ds Lite and I want to make sure the normal games will work...

yes, the differences between the 2 are mostly cosmetic. (dif shape, dif stylus, that sort of thing)
I'm pretty sure the new i one will play the old ds games too, but doubt all of them working in reverse.
 
yes nething that workd for the ds and the gameboy and even the gameboy advanced will work
