Do people not realize the only way to not get pregnant is to not have sex?

Why do people not read the information that comes with their choice of birth control? Do people really think that birth control (pill,IUD,nuvaring, etc) can prevent pregnancy 100%? I'm just wondering this, because even though it says "99% effective" I know women that have gotten pregnant on the pill (myself,my mom),the depo shot, etc. I know one girl they had on two types of birth control pills to regulate her cycles, and she got pregnant. Why do they claim that effective, when obviously it's not? She took hers at the same time everyday btw. I know that human error has something to do with it,but not in all cases. My question is do people NOT read the pamphlets that come with it that say even if you are say an hour late with the pill,it lowers the effectiveness rate of it? Do people not realize the only 100% way you can NOT get pregnant is to not have sex?
My mom? NO idea. Myself? I took it by as little as one hour late, maybe one or two days, which so many people don't understand DOES lower the effectiveness. I had an alarm on my cell phone too, just didn't always have the pills with me. Don't be a dick last answerer. It is possible,ya know, don't be a moronic f***.
I'm happy for those of you that are expecting and doing well! I am as well,32 weeks! It just confuses me that people don't talk to their doctors/read the info on the stuff.
