Do other women think that Dirty Dancing(1987)is rubbish?

Hi. Last night me and a friend sat down and watched the movie Dirty Dancing for the first time ever(get with the program i know) and i just thought 'Whats all the fuss about?I know it was made in the 80's but it was far too cheesey in my opinion.The only thing i liked was Patrick Swayze, he cant act for crap but he was hot and he can dance, and the soundtrack.His love interest seemes like a stupid young schoolgirl to me. Are me and my friend the only people who don't like this film? Thanks

yeah but you have to remeber that a large propertion of women that love dirty dancing would have seen it when it first came out (or during that era) when most, if not all, chick dance flicks were incredibly cheesy. I would probably agree with you that its a load of crap if I had seen it for the first first too but then i would probably say the same about other movies that were my favourites at the time but wouldnt enjoy if I saw them for the first time today e.g. Beetle Juice, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Flash Dance, Rocky Horror etc

What im saying is that when I watch Dirty Dancing I watch it with "young" eyes and nostalgia. so I watch it as if I were watching it when I when I was 13 again or something. Its a different experience.
