Do normal wireless USB networking adapters work on the XBox 360?

I read that in order to connect the 360 to a wireless network connection, you need to use the Xbox wireless networking adapter. Looking at it, it looks like a standard USB wireless network adapter. Can you use another wireless USB adapter or does it need to be the one designed for the Xbox. (I already have a USB network adapter, but its old and only connects at B speeds)
 
The operating system on Xboxes doesn't support much other than MS authorized devices.

They probably don't support the wireless adapter that you have. Sorry.
