I am just amazed at the number of people who have negative ideas about arab women. I am ok with them thinking that we are not beautiful since we may not be of their taste (beauty is in the eye of the beholder) but I am upset that people just go online saying arab women are hairy, dirty, oppressed, not educated etc.. When I know most arab women including myself don't fall into these categories. When will people learn not to be arrogant as they wouldn't want others to stereotype them they shouldn't stereotype people and look down on them, we are all humans. Notice that mankind is the only animal who looks down on his own kind.
Little Princess: nowhere is it mentioned in the quran for women to dress like they do now, it is said to cover the cleavage and be modest etc, and for men also to be modest and not "stare" at women...

As far education it is an obligation on muslims do get educated (according to islam) and it is a legal obligation in my country for example to send your kids to school until they turn 18 at least (according to law)

Why do we get blamed for the way people stereotype us !

I think there are beautiful women from everywhere. In fact, I have a beautiful Arab friend who is very intelligent. People are racist, classist, etc. Esp. After 911, Americans freaked out and started labeling everyone simply Middle Eastern looking or Muslim as dangerous.Even if they were American citizens for several years and considered themselves American. I still see it on the news, not too long ago this stupid women reported a Muslim women for talking on a cell phone in an airplane thinking she said, "It's a go" when she really said, "I have to go". People take frightful moments like 911, and mesh it with terrorism, Islam, the Middle East as if they are all related. And because this causes hatred, it can also lead up to hurtful claims about appearances. I am white, I am female, I live in the United States, and sometimes I am ashamed to be an American, especially when I see the effect of nationalism and this false idea of "security".
