Do lacto ovo vegetarians eat sugar?

Is there a type of sugar that vegetarians don't eat?
I read something about there being bone char in it?
Do you not eat certain kinds of sugar?
Is there some types of sugar without bone char?
What types of sugar should I avoid?
What types of sugar should I buy?

Vegans prefer to not have refined white sugar made because it was ground up with animal bones, kinda makes the cupcake look less appetizing. In North America most white sugar is made from beets, and use the bone char method. Brown sugar is just white sugar with molasses in it, still bone-y. Some cane sugar is unprocessed and raw and therefore didn't get ground up and whitened with bones, so they will eat that.
Lacto ovo vegetarians do not worry themselves with the contents of sugar, so all is safe.

Yes. Bone char is made from found bones - it's just one of those picky vegan things, like the honey. I think cane sugar does not use bone char though - you could google this but there are cane sugar and beet sugar and one does not use bone char.
