Do knowing stuff about rocks and other things contribute to astronomy?

The reason I ask is because. Im a freshman in highshool and im currently taking a earth science class. Learning about astronomy know but where going to go into rocks and shit later. Rocks really do not fascinate me, at least in 4th grade. So im wondering if learning about rocks will contribute to knowledge in overall general astronomy. Of course it is in a way like dust and other things but. Does learning wtf is in a rock really mater?

Short answer, yes. Knowing something about geology contributes much to the many fields you want to know in astronomy. In fact, most astronomers are secondarily well informed in geology. Please stop the the "wtf" part of your speech. You should have put an "WTF Girly" avatar name instead if you are to use it like everyday language.

Clear skies!
