Do I still get to kick out my tenants on the date decided upon at court?

A few months ago I went to court with my tenants to kick them out because they were not paying the rent. We finally got a date that they had to leave without having to go in front of the judge, making a deal between lawyers. The date is about to come up in 2 weeks. So I called up my lawyer to make sure there was nothing else needed to do. When I called, they said that they were waiting for a signature from the courts and I might have to wait a months. They said the date that was decided on at court didn't matter. I have no clue what that means. Does this mean that I can't kick them out on the date and have to wait for the papers from the court or something? If this is so...this is complete bull. Can someone explain this to me? Can I still get them out on the date?
Btw..i live in new york city.
I have no clue...something about getting the marshal ordered and getting the paper work through the courts...

What signature are you waiting on? It shouldn't take a month to get this done if both you and the defendants agreed upon this.

I would contact your local county sheriff's office and ask them what kind of paperwork they need from you in order to enforce an eviction. When tenants get evicted it's the county sheriff that goes to the property with the court order to ensure the tenant is out. They remove them with force if necessary.
