Do I stay (with Cingular) or do I go (to Verizon or Sprint)?

I have had Cingular (and AT&T) since 2002 but I moved to Boston last year and coverage sucks! So now my contract is finally finished and I can switch to Verizon (who seems to have the best coverage here), but after researching the phones and how they cripple features, I'm wary.

Here's what I want from a phone:
- Good reception
- Bluetooth
- Apple/iSync compatible
- (Ideally) able to transfer pics & ringtones between the phone and my computer

If I switch to Verizon, I'll probably end up with their v3m, which will work well on the first three desired attributes. I'm also considering Sprint, but I haven't been able to figure out if they cripple OBEX like Verizon does.

So what I'm wondering:
1 - Does anyone know if I could do bluetooth file transfers with a sprint razr?
2 - Does anyone have good/bad experience with Sprint service in the Boston area?
3 - Or do I stay with Cingular and get a new phone cheap with an extension on my contract? (I currently have the Sony Ericsson z520a, which I've been happy with except for the crappy reception.)
4 - Are there any options I'm missing or haven't considered as reasonable alternatives?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

I have been using Cingular in Boston for several years and have had no problem with coverage. Where are you getting the poor service? Maybe it is the phone? Verizon is also very good in the city, plus EVDO works great.

Sprint does not have a good track record outside of the major metro areas. Also, if you travel overseas at all your CDMA phone (Verizon and Sprint will not work)

I often drive around the state and I found that simply staying on the Mass Pike from Worcester to Boston there are at least two areas where every call gets dropped. Also, everywhere I've lived in the last two years has had poor reception with Cingular. My girlfriend, who has had Verizon for a while, always had better service than I did.

So I ended up going with Verizon and the RAZR V3m. So far it works perfectly with iSync (just make sure you pair it with the computer first). I've only been able to get ringtones onto it via emailed text message (still trying to figure out BitPim), and reception is definitely improved at my apartment.

So far so good. I'll update if I find anything to complain about.

I just learned about Vcast and seems to be a pretty cool feature. I am big fan of Itunes and just switched over to Rhapsody just because I get tired of the 30 second samples. Anyways I think Verizon would be a great option especially if you want to listen to music and watch videos. This review is somewhat related. More Itunes comparison then anything else but it might help you. I would be interested in what you end up going with.

Could be your phone. I too am all over Ma - all over New England for that matter. Have noticed a couple dead spots in Nashua NH and Waltham MA and in the hills of NH and VT. Other than that I get great coverage. Was using Treos up until a year ago. Now on a BB8700. All on Cingular.
