do i seem like a weird man with mental problems?

i work at the reception desk as a security guard, and i notice from changing shifts that all the other security guards interact with the employees of the building quite a bit. they share jokes and they just chat with everyone. i pretty much never talk to anyone, i say hello and good morning and thats it.

what do the employees think of me
a weird man with mental problems?
why do i have to chat with anyone, im just there to guard the entrance
if nobody initiate a conversation why do i have to start one
