Do I really need to list my ENTIRE employment history?

I'm 26 and applying for a job as a quality controls specialist with the state of New Jersey. In addition to my resume, I need to fill out a pre-employment application which states to list all previous employment history. Do I really need to list ALL of my previous employers since high school? Is it necessary to list that I was a hostess for 3 months 10 years ago?

No, you really don't have to list everywhere you worked -- there's really no way they can find out if you leave something off.

It depends on the job usually. If there is a background security check required for the position, then yes. Otherwise, put in as far back as they require. Some will say 10 years, some 3, etc. Some say ALL, which means all, but sometimes if you talk to a live person in their employment or human resources dept. they will tell you how far back is really needed.
