Do I really have to decorate the front porch for Halloween?

Halloween is coming and we haven't decorated or done anything yet. And saw my neighbors decorated their front door with decorating lights and pumpkins and spider webs and stuff, but we just moved here about 2 months so we don't know what to do. Do we really have to decorate the front porch to support the spirit of Halloween in my area or just let it plain and just turn a light outside on for trick or treaters. I really love to decorate and have something for the trick or treaters but my parents won't let me and says that the decorations are too expensive and they are only used for just the day. PLEASE HELP. Or can you give me some idea of decoration that we can make on our own with the things we have at home. We live in a townhouse so we don't have any front or backyard. Something that can be hung or stuck on the wall is perfect
