Independent students are classified as being: 24 or older, married, have child(ren)/dependents, or are active members of the military. If none of these statements are true, then you are both dependent students and will have to give your parents financial information, as well as your own (even though your parents do not support you financially at all). Fill out the fafsa regardless of your parents income. Even if you don't qualify for grants, you will qualify for federal student loans. Start looking for scholarships that you may qualify for as well. If you only qualify for student loans, you can still go to school; however, you'll have to choose an inexpensive college as there are maximum yearly limits in the stafford loan ($5,500/dependent student freshman year). Good luck!
