Do I need to use another monitor if I use ViDock 2

I have a hp dv7 laptop with ati mobility radeon HD 4200 vid card and looking to play better games on it. can i get this ViDock 2 and use to use a desktop video card on my laptop w/o using another monitor? basically, can i use the monitor on my laptop with the ViDock 2?
 
It looks like you need an external monitor. To use the laptops built in display, you have to connect it to the external video card, which of course is not possible.
