Sometimes you may need heat, I've broke Snap-on torx bits more than once on rotor bolts.
You can heat a more precise area with a small torch, than you can with a heat gun. I use a micro-flame torch, then heat and try to remove, and repeat till they come out. I try to use no more heat than I have to to get them out.
