Do I need to use a torch to get the rotor bolts off?

Do I need to use a torch to remove the rotor bolts on the front tire? Or will they come of with a breaker bar and a torx? Or will an impact gun work? Or do I use a hand impact drive? I am hopping that some has been here and can tell me which the best way is. I here all these scary stories about threads being torn out and broken bolts.

Get a nail punch and a hammer, hit the punch in the center of the bolt. It should help break the bolt lose . Don't mangle the bolt where you put the torx bit.

That's very wise! I never heard of using heat before. Take care with Torx bits as cheap ones can be a poor fit in the screw. Best of luck and let us know how you get on. Rotor screws have a 'life' of 3 uses, in other words we can use them 3 times before replacing them. So clean them carefully and use thread locking compound when refitting them. If you are fitting new Harley rotors they come with new screws with threadlock stuff already applied.

I use a 3/8" drive impact on all the big torx bolts.

Less damage to the bolt head and it does a great job breaking loose the Locktite.

I really hate torx and allen head bolts, 12 point bolts would work much better and look just as good IMO.
