Do I need to buy a heater for my fish tank?

I have a spare fish tank and thought I'd put some fish in since it has a pump and stuff. I don't know what fish to put that do not need a heater. I live in Australia and it's pretty warm down here.

I don't want goldfish cause I have lots of them already.
