drop bars? i have a trek fx with straight bars. im thinking about putting drop bars on. do i need a new brake lever system or can i just mount what i have now?
 
you will need new\ shifters
which may not work with your derailleurs
and new brake levers - not new brakes per se

i mean look at it - do the brakes and gears go in the same place for drop vs straight?

they aren;t in the middle of the bar or at the ends
