Do I need a 4 channel amp?

2002 Mustang coupe

Alpine Type R 10" sub in trunk

Alpine Mrp-500 to power sub

Alpine SPS-507 In the back

Infinity Kappas in the front

Eclipse CD8445 HU
 
with up to 500 watts of bass, you should definitely get an amp for your highs. whether to get a 4 channel or just a 2 is up to you. I personally have a 2 channel running my highs up front, and just have the rear speakers running off my HU. To me, I like to hear the music imaged in front of me... not around me. Like when you're in a concert, you don't hear music behind you, it's always in front of you. I've heard of lots of people just taking out their rear speakers to allow more bass in. It sucks for the people sitting in back, but since you have a coupe, that probably won't happen too often.
 
You definitely have a setup that would benefit from a 4 channel amp. The question is...is it loud enough for you know or do you want to be able to go louder with no distortion? A 4 channel amp would allow you to play your music louder with less distortion compared to what your head unit would allow.
