Do I match speakers or head unit?

I have a JVC NX-7000 and Rockford Fosgate Punch series component speakers in my truck. I want to add an external amplifier but not sure if I should match the JVC, Rockford Fosgate or it really doesn't matter. Any help would be appreciated
