do i have to write a script this way?

ok so i was wondering if i have to write a script like this..

mandy: "don't do that" [mandy grabs kate's arm] kate: "i'll do what i want" [kate pushes mandy way]

or can i write it like a book? i've written a few books before (didn't give them to any publishers) and it would just be easier to write it like a book for me but i'm willing to try writing it like my first example if i have to.
 
Wrong category but I will say this. Just write your script first then worry about putting it in script format. Remember that a film script is more concerned with decribing the actions. A tree RUSTLES where as a book is very descriptive to both atmosphere and surrounding.

Here is a quick tip: 1.Write out the story first, like a short story. 2. Then write it with the dialogue. 3.Then focus on the actions of the scene. 4. Finally write your play in script format.
