some on my own? i recently filed for divorce in Nj but before doing so i had petitioned the court with issues under domestic violence docket, now they want to consolidate all issues and be heard under the new divorce docket. I am filing a show cause order and i don't want to use my attorney for this simple form and motion. PLEASE HELP!

Sounds like you can do it yourself, so do it. Your attorney just wants to get paid more money, they love running up the bill. You do not have to use him for everything, just the divorce. Don't let them consolidate, probably something your attorney requested. Otherwise the court would not have known about the divorce.

Please ... by all that is holy, USE THE ATTORNEY !

So what if it's just a "simple motion". That's their job. They go to court and file motions. They also do a lot of other stuff, but motion filing is part of WHAT THEY DO.

Your job is to let the attorneys do their job. Trust that they know what they're doing, and that they will do their best for you. This motion may seem simple, but a legal proceeding such as this is like one of those old pocket watches ... have you ever taken an old watch apart and looked at how much stuff it takes to keep time? There must be 100 little dials, gears, springs, screws, levers and other widgets in there, but my point is this: This motion might be simple, but it's part of a bigger whole, just like one of those tiny little springs inside the watch is part of the whole mechanism. Mess with that one little screw and it affects the everything, so this motion may be simple, but it might affect other things that you're not aware of.

Pretty please - just let them do it. It's their job, and it's what they do.

*big hug* and best of luck !!
