Do I have to save all my photos and files before a using system restore?

My computer has been messing up lately and I've been wanting to clear everything out. I was wondering if System Restore will do that and if I would have to save all my files and photos i want to keep. I want to restore back to around the time I got it, which was almost 2 years ago. Would that be a problem?

restore to an earlier time will not delete your pics or docs

Depends on what restore method you use. Consider backing them up anyway as some day you WONT have the option!
