Do I have to claim unemployment as earned income (net or gross) on my taxes?

I've never been on unemployment before. When I'm doing my taxes, do I include the amount of unemployment as income and what about if I have the taxes already taken out of each payment made to me? Does this change if I file for unemployment for the whole year?
