I get short of breath as soon as I sit down. When I sit my head feels sort of "congested" and I find it harder to breath. As soon as I stand up my breathing clears up.
This problem is about 3 mnths old now. It started with having to use more pillows to prop head up but has progressed to where now I have to sleep in a chair. At this point I now have this problem when I as much as sit down. And as i said it instantly fixes itself as soon as I stand up.
it is really uncomfrtable because it means i can never sit down, and i only fall asleep eventually out of exhaustion from standing all the time.

what is this???

I have had EKG = OK, chest xray + OK.. i weigh 190lbs and am 5'10" and am 38 y.o.

Im getting sick of going to the doc about this when they never find out what the problem is, so thought id post here becuade doc suggested maybe anxiety??
What do you think? This problem is completely intefering with my life and is SOOOO FRUSTRATING. please help someone.

I am sorry for your frustration. It really doesn't sound like anxiety. I'm wondering if you should be going to some sort of Sleep Apnea Clinic/doctor. My husband has to sleep in a chair also but his medical conditions are so numerous that he can't be fixed but I sure do understand your total frustration and there is definitely something going on but gosh what could this be? SounRAB like when you bend at the waist something happens to the lungs...like not enough oxygen either in your lungs or blood. Look into Sleep Apnea clinics for a sleep study and see what they see at night time. In the meantime have you tired putting the head of your bed up on those risers/blocks for the corners of your head board...or what we did was try a 4x6 post we put under the mattress(we didn't have a headboard)to get the head of the bed up higher than the foot. That sometimes helps but not always. There is a answer to your condition you just haven't found the right doctor ...just don't give up. There is an answer. Good luck.
