I'm half costa rican and half japanese and I would like to know if I would have greater chance to get into a college if I applied as hispanic or asian. I have a weighted GPA a little above 5.0 and have taken 15 AP classes. I'm ranked 10 in a class of 600 and I want to go to a good engineering college. I also got an 800 on my math SAT and a 700 on my reading SAT. When I fill out my applications, which of the two races should I pick? I've been told to apply as hispanic by my friends because they think that there are less hispanic people applying to colleges with an impressive academic history compared to asians, but the colleges always look for diversity. Like if I applied for Purdue, would I have a greater chance of being accepted as an asian or hispanic?
