...are running after my family? I am 18+ living in Canada and wondering if I go to jail if I run over group of drunkies (5) trying to catch and possibly beat up or kill a family. Wouldn't that count as defence for my family member? Do I still go to jail?

a tad on the side of excessive use of force there ain't it? and you stated you purposely ran over them? talk like that may just get you convicted. using possibly deadly force on a group which you have no knowledge of their intentions, just a fear or belief? basically i would say you are screwed!

Yes you can still go to jail. Get a lawyer and have them argue self defense. You have to be in immediate danger for self defense to work.
